Lemon-Ginger Mint Julep
If you don’t know, I’m originally from Kentucky, and before a pandemic broke out.. today was supposed to be the Kentucky Derby! Such a fun event that I look forward to every year. We haven’t been able to make it home the past couple of years, but we always watch it on TV, and it’s a fun excuse to make cocktails. So many memories so it makes me a bit nostalgic when it rolls around.
Mint Juleps are known for being the drink for derby day. I decided to do add a little twist on it and mix it up with some lemon ginger kombucha! I have to say, the carbonated kombucha adds a nice little kick to it that I never knew it needed! Other than that, I didn’t stray too far from the traditional drink. I hope you love this as much as I did! Even if derby isn’t until the fall now, this is a drink we can sip on all summer long.
Ingredients:
1 Bottle Ginger-Lemon Kombucha
10 mint leaves + more for garnish
1 lemon
Bourbon of choice
Crushed Ice
Instructions:
In a cocktail shaker muddle the mint leaves with the juice of 1/2 the lemon. Pour evenly into two bourbon glasses. Fill the cups half way with the lemon ginger kombucha. Add crushed ice to the 3/4 mark of the glass, and top with bourbon. Add lemon and mint for for garnish, enjoy!
