Cinnamon Swirl Muffins with Cream Cheese Filling

As I’m typing this I could quite literally go into labor in a matter of hours, days, or a couple of weeks - at this point it’s a waiting game (and I’m not a very patient person...). I have definitely done my fair share of nesting and I think I am about as prepared as you can be to bring home a newborn! I keep joking that my new form of “nesting” is spending time in the kitchen holiday baking because I just can’t seem to stop. It could also be because it’s just the time of year for cozy baked goods! I love baking when it’s cold and gray outside, it definitely brings back nostalgic holiday memories of being in the kitchen with my Mom and Grandma. It’s so comforting to have the smell of cookies or muffins wafting through the house as they bake. That leads me right to this delicious recipe!

These cinnamon swirl muffins with a cream cheese frosting are truly about as cozy as it gets for a baked good. The base is a light and fluffy batter, but we don’t stop there. You’ll add in a layer of cinnamon sugar AND a dollop of cream cheese mixed with powdered sugar to give these somewhat of a cinnamon roll vibe. Of course you’ll then finish it off with another layer of cinnamon sugar! The result is an absolutely divine muffin with a delicious cinnamon sugar swirl and a gooey cream cheese filling.

These are perfect with your morning cup of coffee or as an afternoon pick me up! No matter when you decide to have them one thing is for sure, you are going to want to make batch after batch of these.
