“Oreo” Balls

Oreo balls are my love language. I have always loved them and enjoy making them around the holiday season. I was Facetiming my sister, niece, and nephew last week and they were making them so I decided to also get a head start on making holiday desserts! The only problem was I didn’t have Oreo’s and did not feel like going to the grocery store. So I made do with what I had at home to create a dupe, and I must say - it’s very similar to the real deal! In fact, I would love to do a side by side taste test with my niece and nephew just to hear what they think. I like this version so much I’ve already made another batch. That said, I will 100% be making the traditional recipe at some point this season as well!

Oreo Balls

These "oreo" balls taste so close to the real deal it's hard to tell the difference! Made with a few simple ingredients that taste delicious.

Ingredients

  • 4 pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup chocolate granola butter
  • 1/4 cup cacao powder
  • 1/4 cup flaxseed meal
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp. coconut oil
  • Red & green sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place dates, granola butter, cacao powder, flaxseed meal, Greek yogurt, and honey in a food processor. Process on low until all ingredients are blended together. You might need to stop and mix with a spatula and then continue to process.
  2. Once blended lightly press down on the mixture to compact it, and then roll it into small balls. For reference I made about 14 with this mix.
  3. Place each ball on a parchment lined baking sheet and freeze for 1 hour.
  4. When the hour has passed, melt white chocolate chips and coconut oil together, either in the microwave or on the stovetop, being careful not to overheat or burn it.
  5. Roll the balls in the white chocolate and place back on the parchment paper,  adding sprinkles while the chocolate is still melted if you choose! Keep refrigerated until ready to enjoy.
